REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Reports To: Data Consultant II Supervises Directly: N/A Supervises Indirectly: N/A WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Direct Internal Liaisons: Database Consultants, System Administrators, Developers Direct External Liaisons: External Clients RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. *Under general direction, perform the following duties related to an Oracle database: a. Create and maintain database objects, stored procedures, views, indexes, tables b. Database partitioning c. Database encryption d. Work closely with developers making recommendations on database design for new features/functions and enhancements e. Database troubleshooting and performance tuning f. Maintain database update scripts 2. *Act as primary production support DBA 3. *Provide complex technical guidance and support to internal or external customers on database design and troubleshooting. 4. *Responsible for systems integration through data base design. 5. *Assists in the development of transaction logging, back up, and security features. 6. *Recommend and implement database structural changes, security policies, and backup/recovery specifications. 7. *Provides technical database information to other systems software, computer operations, applications 8. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent education in a related discipline is required. Related work experience can be substituted for educational requirement. Job Related Experience: Typically requires five years programming or related experience. Travel Requirements: Able to travel up to 10%, as required. Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit at computer for extended periods of time. Ability to use computer keyboard and monitor for extended periods of time. Functional Area Skills/Knowledge: • An excellent knowledge of Oracle is a requirement. • Knowledge of SQL Server would be a plus • An excellent knowledge of programming ( i.e. program design, flowcharting, coding, testing, debugging, etc ) • An excellent knowledge of how the pieces of a program fit together for the purpose of meeting the requirements of an application. • An excellent knowledge of documenting program design, coding, and maintenance. • An excellent understanding of how critical project completion is to client satisfaction. • An excellent knowledge of the relationship of how the software being used relates to the hardware being used. • The ability to interact with external, as well as, internal clients for the purpose of data gathering and design initiation. • Strong writing skills are required. • Independent judgment is required.
