Description: 
ARD, Inc. (http://www.ardinc.com) is accepting expressions of interest from qualified Team Leader candidates for a USAID-funded, 1.5 year project in the Kiunga-Boni-Dodori (KIBODO) region of Kenya. This program will protect biodiversity, improve livelihoods, and reduce conflict over scarce resources in the northeastern coastal area by: (1) improving tenure security for land and other natural resources, (2) sustainably managing natural resources and biodiversity, and (3) influencing GoK policies in land tenure reform and land use. 

Responsibilities: 
-- Provide leadership, expert advice and guidance for all personnel under the project 
-- Serve as the main point of contact with USAID/Kenya and GoK, particularly the Ministry of Lands and local government in Lamu District; ensure their engagement in project implementation activities 
-- Supervise and coordinate the implementation of all components of the project so that all inputs are provided on time and objectives and deliverables are met on schedule 
-- With the help of project assistants, manage short-term personnel and grants to local organizations 
-- Ensure that all major GoK counterpart and key stakeholders are engaged in contributing to key elements/stages of project implementation, and coordinate these closely with USAID and GoK 
-- Work with ARD home office and local implementing partner to identify needs of and procure additional technical experts 
-- Work with the project finance personnel to ensure that project finances are managed prudently 
-- Ensure that project implementation progress, Monitoring and Evaluation, financial and management reports are issued on a regular basis 
-- Provide regular communication to USAID/Kenya (and GoK as necessary) on progress of implementation

Qualifications: 
Desired Qualifications: -- Minimum of a Master’s degree in natural resource management, preferably with experience in land tenure and property rights in the context of forest and marine resources -- Minimum 8 years of field experience in land tenure or community-based/co-management of natural resources -- Experience managing multi-lateral donor projects in a Team Leader capacity -- Strong cross-cultural relations and inter-personal communication skills -- Excellent writing skills -- Experience working in Kenya or neighboring countries is preferred; a working knowledge of Swahili is a plus -- Other desirable skills include land use planning, conflict resolution, advocacy and policy reform, public information and awareness, training and capacity building in natural resource management. Job Requirements:
